Impressive! I am following an oceanic sailing race with google maps and would like to incorporate grib data but cannot find any solution to convert it. Can you give some advice where to start? thanks

Igniacio, you can find a pretty good GRIB decoder at jgrib.sourceforge.net. Let me know if this works for you, I can definitely help if not!
